RésuméLe ténor anglais célèbre le 400ème anniversaire de la disparition de Shakespeare à travers un florilège de mélodies composées de son vivant jusqu'au 20ème siècle. Cet album est une collection des plus belles mises en musique des textes de Shakespeare, partant des compositeurs contemporains du dramaturge anglais comme Johnson et Byrd, passant par des mélodies de Haydn, Arne et Schubert, pour arriver au 20ème siècle de Warlock, Poulenc, Finzi, Korngold et Stravinsky. Ian Bostridge a invité sur cet enregistrement ses amis Antonio Pappano au piano, Adam Walker à la flûte, Lawrence Power à l'alto, le clarinettiste Michael Collins, ainsi qu'Elizabeth Kenny au luth.
